We started our farm in May of 2020, but our dream of having an oyster farm started long before then. Dan, founder and farm owner, grew up near the coast of New Jersey and comes from a long line of avid fisherman and shellfish harvesters. When he went to college, he studied environmental science with a concentration in water resources, and went on to earn his master’s degree in marine biology through in depth research of water quality. His interests in marine ecosystem health, combined with his love of fishing, naturally brought him to his desire to start an oyster farm. Fishing and harvesting became a way of life for his family, and with support from the broader community, Dan started his first oyster farm in May 2020.
